San Juan River (Tamaulipas)

The San Juan River (Río San Juan) is an important river in northeastern Mexico. It rises in the mountains of Coahuila or Nuevo León, flows through the state of Nuevo León—where it feeds the vital El Cuchillo Dam and supplies water to the metropolitan area of Monterrey—and eventually joins the Rio Grande (Río Bravo) near Camargo in Tamaulipas. The river is essential for water supply, agriculture, and the regional ecosystem.
