Clark Fork

The Clark Fork winds through a valley in northern Idaho shaped by ancient Ice Age floods before emptying into the deep and expansive Lake Pend Oreille. Framed by the steep slopes of the Cabinet Mountains and dense forests, this stretch of the river offers a serene and scenic landscape of clear waters and extensive wetlands in the delta. Angling spots invite successful catches of trout and walleye, while boating, kayaking, and canoeing on the calmer sections and the lake provide relaxed hours on the water. Hiking trails lead to viewpoints and peaks, and along the banks there are camping opportunities as well as chances for berry picking, wildlife viewing, and in winter for cross-country skiing or snowmobiling.
