Middle Fork Clearwater River

The Middle Fork Clearwater River winds for about twenty-three miles through a broad forested canyon in north-central Idaho, beginning where the Lochsa and Selway rivers meet at Lowell and flowing westward to join the South Fork near Kooskia. Framed by rounded hills of ponderosa pine, Douglas fir and grasslands and easily reached along the scenic highway corridor, its clear waters offer gentle Class I and II rapids ideal for relaxed summer floating by raft, kayak or canoe.
