American River (Idaho)

The American River in Idaho winds for about 22 miles through the forested heights and alluvial valleys of the Clearwater Mountains in the Nez Perce National Forest near Elk City. As a right tributary it joins the Red River to form the South Fork Clearwater River, descending southward from roughly 5200 feet through quiet mountain landscapes.
