Chehalis River

The Chehalis River is a major waterway in southwestern Washington state. It originates in the Willapa Hills and flows approximately 115 miles (185 km) through diverse landscapes of forests, valleys, and rural areas before emptying into Grays Harbor, an estuary of the Pacific Ocean. The river winds in a broad curve, passing through communities such as Chehalis and Centralia, and supports a rich ecosystem with varied habitats along its course. Its basin covers about 2,660 square miles and plays an important role in the region’s natural environment and hydrology.
