The Lena, stretching approximately 4290 kilometres and ranking among the longest rivers on Earth, rises in the Baikal Mountains of Siberia and flows northward through the vast permafrost plains and dense taiga forests of Yakutia before emptying into the Laptev Sea in one of the world’s largest deltas.
