Södertälje Kanal

The Södertälje Canal winds for about five kilometres right through the Swedish city of Södertälje, linking Lake Mälaren with the Baltic Sea. Geographically it forms a natural yet artificially shaped water axis between the expansive inland and the open sea, nestled among the gentle hills and urban waterfronts of Södermanland. Along its banks, wide promenades and cycle paths invite leisurely walks, jogging or cycling, while seating areas, viewpoints and small green spaces encourage lingering and watching the passing leisure boats and ships. Especially in summer the canal becomes a lively recreational space where locals and visitors enjoy the calm waterside atmosphere, picnic or simply observe the traffic on this scenic waterway.
