Rivermap EN Shuswap River
The Shuswap River rises in the central Monashee Mountains and winds through dense forests, past the calm waters of Sugar Lake and Mabel Lake, before entering agricultural valleys near Enderby and finally flowing into Mara Lake and onward into the Shuswap lake system. Its course links alpine mountain scenery with open river valleys, creating a varied landscape of steep slopes, sandy banks and wide meadows. Outdoor enthusiasts find ideal conditions here for relaxed tubing and canoeing on gentle stretches, challenging kayaking in faster currents, fishing especially during the salmon runs, as well as swimming, hiking and picnicking along the shores.
