Kettle River (Columbia River)

The Kettle River winds nearly 280 kilometres as a free-flowing tributary of the Columbia from its source in the Monashee Mountains of British Columbia through the Okanagan Highlands and across the international border into Washington. It traverses a transitional landscape of open ponderosa-pine forests, bunchgrass meadows and broad scenic valleys before joining Lake Roosevelt. This accessible, undammed river draws visitors for relaxed canoeing, kayaking and tubing on its gentle stretches, excellent trout fishing, riverside camping, swimming and hiking or cycling along the historic rail trail, with winter opportunities for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing amid abundant wildlife.
