Little Salmon River (Idaho)

The Little Salmon River rises on Blue Bunch Ridge in the Sawtooth Range and flows about 53 miles northward through the broad Meadows Valley near New Meadows before carving a deep, narrow canyon along the western edge of the Salmon River Mountains and joining the Salmon River at Riggins. Its watershed covers rugged, forested terrain with tributaries such as the Rapid River and Goose Creek. Anglers enjoy strong runs of Chinook salmon, steelhead, and trout, while rafters and kayakers tackle stretches of Class II to V whitewater. Hiking, camping, and exploring the surrounding forests and canyons complete the recreational opportunities.
