North Fork Boise River

The North Fork Boise River rises on the western slopes of the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho’s remote high country and flows roughly 50 miles southwest through steep granite canyons and forested valleys of the Boise National Forest before joining the Middle Fork. Amid rugged mountain terrain marked by sharp elevation drops and varied stretches—from roadless canyon sections to more accessible mid-reaches—it invites trout and whitefish angling, whitewater paddling, hiking along dramatic riverside trails, camping, and winter pursuits such as snowshoeing.
