Peenestrom

The Peenestrom is a marine inlet in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, separating the island of Usedom from the mainland. It connects the Baltic Sea in the north with the Achterwasser and the Szczecin Lagoon (Stettiner Haff) in the south. The Peenestrom stretches about 20 kilometers and serves as an important waterway for shipping. Along its shores lie picturesque villages such as Rankwitz and Krummin, characterized by nature and tranquility. The area is renowned for its diverse flora and fauna, as well as its significance as a habitat for numerous bird species.
